Marine Debris Fashion

The garment was constructed for the first annual Marine Debris Fashion Show sponsored by the REEF Makerspace at the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. My team was inspired by the concept of Mother Nature’s reclamation. Nature always finds a way to grow through the crevices of the most industrialized sects of our society, even when we abandon them. Our piece personifies this reclamation through a feminine and retro design, using recycled pop tabs, jewelry rings, synthetic textiles, and artificial vine embellishments. Mother Nature is revived; she reclaims her place in an industrial world.
